How To Encourage A Writer
WRITERS WEEKLY I’ve gotten the free WRITERS WEEKLY newsletter for years and find it a valuable resource. It gives a current listing of available freelance writing jobs, plus the helpful “Whispers and Warnings” section, which warns of deadbeat and unethical firms who purchase freelance work. WRITERS WEEKLY is written by Angela Hoy of the BOOKLOCKER print-on-demand site, but it has excellent information for writers of many types. If you explore the WRITERS WEEKLY site, you’ll find helpful books and articles on writing and selling books, including “query letters that worked” and “book proposals that worked.” FAB FREELANCE WRITING ANGELA BOOTH supplies a great deal of good information for freelance writers. Find here the address of her series, “How To Make Money Freelance Writing”:
http://www.fabfreelancewriting.com/blog/ And find here her “Freelance Basics”: http://www.fabfreelancewriting.com/blog/category/freelance-basics/ AUTHOR-ME.COM AUTHOR-ME.COM is a new site to me, but, when I checked into it, I found nothing but good reports. As PUSHSEARCH.COM says, it is “a support group for writers in search of publishers. Offers many on-line works and opportunities to obtain manuscript critiques. Chat and articles about writing.” I see quite a bit for Christian writers, and something I’ve never found before: encouragement for African writers and many things by them, including a prizewinning story. SELLING BOOKS STEVE WEBER sells books about selling books, and I would imagine they’re good books too. He does more than that, though. His blog has free, valuable information about selling and plugging your book. Check it out at: SELF-PUBLISHING ONLINE LULU.COM electrified the self-publishing world by offering to self-publish authors without up-front fees. It seems to me that online sources have modified their enthusiasm since, I believe because LULU has modified its policies since. Angela Hoy of WRITER’S WEEKLY certainly has no enthusiasm for it, but then she and her husband run BOOKLOCKER.COM, which is the competition. For BOOKLOCKER’s take on self-publishing prices, go to For an accurate summary of LULU’s policies, try the Wikipedia account: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lulu.com Then check out BOOKLOCKER.COM and LULU.COM for yourself. |
